What applies in the subcategories of the EU Drone Regulation?
Subcategory A1:
- it is allowed to fly close to uninvolved persons
- Crowds of people may not be flown over
- in the event of an unexpected overflight of persons, the overflight time must be reduced to a minimum
- the pilot must be familiar with the user manual
- the small EU drone licence (A1/A3 certificate of competence) is required to operate your drone over 250g
Subcategory A2:
- Drones may be flown up to 30 metres from uninvolved persons
- In "slow flight mode" may be flown within 5 m of bystanders
- the pilot must be familiar with the user manual
- the large EU drone licence (remote pilot certificate A2) is required to operate your drone
Subcategory A3:
- Drones may only be flown in areas without endangering uninvolved persons
- a horizontal distance of 150 metres from residential, commercial, industrial and recreational areas must be maintained
- the pilot must be familiar with the user manual
- the small EU drone licence (A1/A3 certificate of competence) is required to operate your drone
