Where are drones allowed to fly and where not?
As the pilot of an "unmanned aerial system", you take part in air traffic and must comply with the applicable regulations. In Germany, these can be found in the LuftVO and the EU Drone Regulation (Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2019/947).
Depending on the drone class, operating category and depending on the EU drone licence, there are different regulations on where you are allowed to fly. Check here
There are also so-called operating bans and rules for drone flying in accordance with §21h LuftVO.
- not unauthorised over residential properties if > 250 g or camera on board
- 100 m from industrial plants, authorities, embassies, prisons, military facilities, deployment sites, hospitals, power generation plants
- 1:1 to federal roads, waterways, railway
- Crossing waterways > 100 m and speed allowed
- 100 m above nature conservation areas
- Controlled airspace may be flown through up to a maximum altitude of 50 metres. Furthermore, according to §21a LuftVO, authorisation is also required for flights at a distance of less than 1.5 km from airfield boundaries. Hospitals often also have landing pads for helicopters. Accordingly, flights within a radius of 1.5 kilometres are only possible with permission.
